Short answer
Send your electrical quote or rewire contract through Sign PDF and have the customer sign it on their phone before you book the job. On completion, send a short sign-off listing the electrical installation certificate or minor works certificate you handed over; those certificates come from your own scheme, and the customer's signature records that they received them.

What an electrical quote should spell out
The question customers ask after a rewire is almost always about the mess. Did the quote include making good? Who fills the chases, who skims, who redecorates? Answer it on the quote. The other question is usually the number of sockets, so count them.
- Points by room: sockets, switches, lights, data, smoke and heat alarms
- Consumer unit or panel, with protective devices named
- Making good: chases filled, plaster skimmed, or left for the plasterer
- Floorboards lifted and refitted, carpets lifted by the customer
- Power-off periods and whether the fridge and freezer stay on overnight
- Certificates and notifications included in the price
Certificates and notification are separate
In England and Wales, most notifiable work under Part P of the Building Regulations is self-certified through a competent person scheme, and the customer receives an electrical installation certificate or minor works certificate, then a building regulations compliance certificate. In the US, permits and inspections go through the local authority. Those documents come from your scheme or the inspector, not from Sign PDF, and we do not e-sign them.
What you can do is send a completion sign-off: the work is finished, the certificate number is listed, the manuals and test results were handed over. The customer signs on their phone, and you have proof they received the paperwork, which is useful when a buyer's solicitor asks for it years later.
Landlord inspections and EV chargers
For periodic inspections in rented homes, the landlord or agent orders the work but the tenant has to let you in. Send the quote to the landlord, and a short access confirmation to the tenant. If remedial work is found, send a remedial quote straight away, so the landlord approves it before the deadline they are working to.
EV charger installs often come with grant or rebate forms from a government scheme or the utility. Those go through the scheme's own portal. Your installation agreement, which covers cable route, the drill hole through the wall, and the location of the charger, is a good fit for Sign PDF.
Plans for electricians
An electrician doing a couple of rewires a month can get by on Light, at $5 a month for 2 documents. Remember that completion sign-offs and change orders count as documents once sent. Most electricians doing daily small works will want Full, at $10 a month for unlimited documents and reusable templates.
We do not produce certificates, notify building control, or do invoicing, payments or scheduling.
Questions people ask
Can I e-sign an electrical installation certificate with Sign PDF?
Certificates are issued through your competent person scheme or software, and we do not produce them. You can get the customer to sign a completion note confirming they received the certificate.
Should the quote say who makes good after a rewire?
Yes. Say whether chases are filled, plastered or left for another trade. It is the most common source of argument after a rewire.
Can a landlord approve remedial work remotely?
Yes. Send the remedial quote through Sign PDF and the landlord signs on their phone.
Do customers need an account to sign?
No. They confirm a six-digit code from their email and sign in the browser.
Can I send the quote as a Word file?
Yes. Sign PDF accepts Word, Pages, PDF and photos of printed pages and turns them into a PDF before placing the boxes.
