What do Dropbox Sign's plans cost today?
With monthly billing selected, Dropbox Sign's pricing page shows Essentials at $20 a month and Standard at $30 a user a month. With yearly billing, Essentials is $15 a month ($180 a year) and Standard is $25 a user a month, starting at $600 a year. Premium is quoted by sales.
Standard is sold for two or more users, so a sole trader looking at team features is really choosing between Essentials and a two-seat bill.
The page also runs an introductory offer: 15% off the first three months of a monthly plan, or 30% off the first year of an annual plan, after which the regular price applies until you cancel.
We cost $5 a month for 2 documents, or $10 a month unlimited, with no yearly option and no introductory pricing to expire.
Is the Dropbox Sign free plan enough?
Dropbox's help centre says the free plan lets you send 3 signature requests a month, renewing every 30 days from the day you signed up, with unlimited self-signing. If you only send two or three agreements a month, that may be all you need, and it costs nothing.
We have no free plan. You can upload a document and see every box placed before signing up, but sending needs Light ($5 for 2 documents) or Full ($10 unlimited). If 3 a month covers you, Dropbox Sign's free plan is the better deal and we would say so.
Which features sit on which plan?
Essentials is a single-user plan with integrations for Google Drive, Microsoft Word and HubSpot. Dropbox's help centre says bulk send is only on Standard and Premium. The comparison table lists Salesforce on the higher plans and a larger template allowance as you move up. The API is priced separately on its own page.
Dropbox Sign states it is compliant with SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, eIDAS and GDPR, and offers SMS authentication and single sign-on, which we do not.
On our Full plan you get signing order, automatic reminders, expiry dates and templates. We have no bulk send, no integrations and no API.
How are fields placed on each?
Automatic field detection at Dropbox Sign was in closed beta when we checked, so most accounts place each field by hand. That is quick on a one-page form and slow on a 14-page lease with initials on every page.
We read the document on upload and put the signature, initials, date and name boxes where the wording says they go, assigned to the right party. You can then type "tenant initials every page" or "add a date under each signature" and the fields update.
What does each send back when everyone has signed?
Dropbox Sign attaches an audit trail to completed documents. We add a certificate of completion with each signer's IP address, approximate location, device, and the UTC time of every step, plus the SHA-256 fingerprint of the original.
Our finished PDF is also sealed with a digital signature and an independent DigiCert timestamp, and anyone can check a copy at signpdf.ai/verify.
