Short answer
Sign PDF lets a private tutor send a tutoring agreement for the parent or guardian to sign on their phone, covering the rate, the 24-hour cancellation policy and consent for recorded online lessons. Adult learners sign for themselves; for a student under 18, the parent signs.

What a tutoring agreement should cover
Most tutors only write terms after their first no-show. A one-page agreement agreed at the start avoids that.
- Subject, level and session length, and whether lessons are online or in person.
- Rate per session or per package, and when you invoice: in advance or after.
- Cancellation: how much notice, what counts as late, and whether you offer a make-up session.
- Your own cancellations: what happens when you are ill.
- No guaranteed results, with a note on how you report progress.
- Consent for recording online sessions and how long recordings are kept.
Who signs for a child
When the student is under 18, the parent or guardian is the one entering the contract, so they sign. Separated parents sometimes both want to agree the arrangement, especially if they split the cost; add both as signers with their own emails.
Older students can sign as an acknowledgement alongside the parent. Add them as a third signer if you want them to see and accept the cancellation rules directly.
Safeguarding and in-home lessons
Many parents ask tutors for a background check, such as a DBS check in the UK. If you teach in the family home, say in the agreement whether a parent will be in the house. If you share photos or progress clips, get written permission. Rules on working with children vary, so check what applies where you teach.
Group classes and tutoring agencies
If you run small group classes, one agreement per family still works best, because each family pays and cancels separately. Upload your agreement once, save it as a template on the Full plan, and send a copy to each parent with their child's name filled in.
Agencies that place tutors with families often need two documents: the agency's terms with the parent, and a contractor agreement with the tutor covering pay, non-solicitation and safeguarding duties. Both can go through Sign PDF, and the parent never sees the tutor's terms.
Plans for tutors
A tutor taking on one or two new students a month fits Light at $5, which covers 2 sent documents. A tutoring business with a September intake will want Full at $10 for unlimited documents and a saved template.
Sign PDF does not schedule lessons, take payments or host video calls. Use it alongside your calendar and payment tools.
Questions people ask
Can parents sign the tutoring agreement on their phone?
Yes. They get an email link, enter a six-digit code and sign in the browser. No account or app is needed.
Do I need a new agreement each term?
Not if the agreement says it continues until either side ends it with notice. Send a new one if the rate or terms change.
Can I add a checkbox for recording consent?
Yes. Add a checkbox next to the recording clause so the parent can tick yes or no.
Is an e-signed tutoring agreement binding?
For an ordinary service agreement, electronic signatures are generally valid in the US, UK, EU and UAE. This is not legal advice.
