Guide
How to cancel DocuSign
Short answer
Sign in as an account administrator, go to Admin > Plan and Billing > Manage Subscription and choose Cancel subscription; DocuSign's help article says this stops auto-renewal and moves the account to the free version at the end of your term. On annual plans, DocuSign's pricing FAQ says you can get a refund within 30 days of purchase, once per customer, and that cancelling after 30 days means paying the rest of the year. Sign PDF is month to month at $5 or $10, with no annual contract.

The steps, from DocuSign's help article
DocuSign's support article 'Cancel a Docusign subscription or stop auto-renewal' gives the route for standard online plans. You must be signed in as an administrator; a regular user does not see the option.
Go to Admin, then Plan and Billing, then Manage Subscription, and select Cancel subscription. Confirm. The article says the account downgrades to a free version at the end of the subscription term, so you keep paid features until then. It also warns not to choose Close Account if you only want to stop renewal: closing is a separate, permanent step.
The article lists different labels for some plans. Real Estate Starter plans use Manage Subscription > Cancel Plan. Developer and legacy plans use Change Plan, then Cancel Subscription further down the page.
What DocuSign says about annual plans and refunds
DocuSign's eSignature pricing page lists Personal at $11 a month on a $132 annual commitment, Standard at $30 a user a month ($360 a year) and Business Pro at $45 a user a month ($540 a year). Its FAQ explains that 'Annual, billed monthly' means you enrol in a full year of service and pay in monthly instalments.
On refunds, the same FAQ says annual plans bought on Docusign.com can be refunded within 30 days of purchase, that this 30-day refund can be used only once per customer, and that if you cancel after the 30-day period you will be required to pay the remaining balance on your annual subscription. For monthly plans, it says you can cancel at any time and will not be charged for the next month. Subscriptions renew automatically, each month or each year.
In practice: if you are on an annual plan past the first 30 days, cancelling stops the next renewal but does not end what you owe for the current year. Put the renewal date in your calendar and cancel before it. DocuSign's support article 'Cancel your Docusign account and request a refund' covers refund requests, which go through DocuSign Support. We checked these pages on 25 October 2026; terms change, and your own order form governs, so read your agreement too.
If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play
DocuSign's help pages 'Manage or cancel your Docusign plan (iPad, iPhone)' and its Android equivalent say plans bought in the mobile app are billed by Apple or Google, and DocuSign Support cannot cancel their auto-renewal or refund them. Cancel in your iPhone's Settings under your name > Subscriptions, or in the Google Play Store under Payments and subscriptions.
Plans negotiated with DocuSign's sales team are governed by your contract, not the online steps. Check the notice period in the order form.
Before you cancel: save your documents
Download every completed envelope you need, with its certificate of completion, before the plan ends. DocuSign's article on closing an account tells you to download completed documents first, and even if you only downgrade, keep your own copies rather than relying on a free account's access later.
Envelopes still out for signature should be completed or voided in DocuSign. They cannot be moved to another service mid-signing.
Moving to Sign PDF
There is no import from DocuSign, and DocuSign templates do not transfer. What you bring across are your unsigned documents: the PDF or Word versions of your contracts, leases and forms. Upload one and we place the signature, initials, date and name boxes and assign each to a signer from the wording around it, so rebuilding a template usually takes a minute. On the Full plan, save it as a template for reuse.
Sign PDF costs $5 a month for two documents or $10 a month for unlimited documents, with unlimited signers per document. It is monthly only: no annual commitment, cancel any time, and your plan runs to the end of the month you paid for. Signers verify their email with a code and sign in the browser, and every completed PDF is sealed with a DigiCert timestamp and a certificate of completion.
DocuSign does things we do not: bulk send, an API, SSO, team roles, CRM integrations, payments, SMS delivery, ID verification and qualified signatures. If you depend on those, a lower DocuSign tier or another full-featured provider is the better fit.
Questions people ask
Can I get a refund on a DocuSign annual plan?
DocuSign's pricing FAQ says annual plans bought on Docusign.com are refundable within 30 days of purchase, once per customer. After 30 days, it says you must pay the remaining balance of the annual subscription. Contact DocuSign Support to request a refund.
Does cancelling DocuSign delete my documents?
Cancelling the subscription downgrades the account to free at the end of the term, according to DocuSign's help article. Closing the account is a separate step. Download your completed documents either way.
Why can't I find the cancel button in DocuSign?
You probably are not an account administrator, or your plan was bought through the App Store, Google Play or a sales contract, each of which has its own process.
Is there a DocuSign alternative without an annual contract?
Sign PDF is billed monthly only, at $5 a month for two documents or $10 for unlimited, and you can cancel any time. Several other providers also offer monthly billing at higher monthly rates.
Can I move my DocuSign templates to Sign PDF?
Not directly. Upload the underlying PDF or Word document and we place the fields again; on the Full plan you can save it as a template.
