Signing it yourself or getting it signed

Putting your own signature on a PDF is fine for forms you are returning: a school consent form, a tenancy renewal the landlord asked you to sign and send back, a delivery note. The person who receives it trusts it because it came from you.

When you need another person's signature, a picture on a page is weak evidence of who signed and when. Sending it for signature records each signer's verified email, IP address, device and the time they signed, seals the finished PDF and adds a certificate of completion. That is the paid part, from $5 a month.

Is my document private?

Yes. The free tool reads and writes the PDF inside your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers unless you press Send it for signature, at which point the original file is uploaded so we can prepare it for the other signers.

Questions people ask

Is it really free?

Yes. Signing your own PDF and downloading it is free with no account and no limit. We charge only when you send a document for other people to sign, from $5 a month.

Is a PDF I sign this way legally valid?

An electronic signature you add yourself is generally recognised for everyday documents in the US, UK, EU and UAE, the same as signing a printout and scanning it. Some documents, such as wills and deeds, still need ink or witnesses. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can I sign a Word document?

The free tool takes PDFs and photos. Save the Word file as a PDF first, or use Send for signature, which converts Word files for you.

Does it add a watermark?

No. The downloaded file is your document with your signature and nothing else added.

Someone else needs to sign it too?

Send it for signature. We place their boxes, they sign on their phone, and you both get a sealed PDF with a certificate of completion. From $5 a month.
