Photos of paperwork, as a proper document
A photo of a signed form, a receipt or an ID page is easy to take and awkward to send: five separate images, some sideways, in no particular order. One PDF with a page per photo is what an employer, landlord or accounts team actually wants.
Phone photos are turned the right way up automatically, using the rotation your camera recorded. If one still comes out sideways, open the PDF in Rotate PDF and turn that page.
Which page size to choose
- A4: the standard outside North America. Best for anything that might be printed in the UK, Europe, the Gulf or most of the world
- US Letter: the standard in the United States and Canada
- Same as picture: no white border; good for screenshots and designs viewed on screen
- Landscape pictures get a landscape page automatically
Limits
iPhone HEIC photos can't be read by most browsers yet. On the iPhone, set Camera, Formats to Most Compatible, or share the photo and choose Save as JPEG. Very large photos are kept at up to 5,000 pixels on the long side, far more than a printed page needs.
