How to convert PDF to JPG

  1. 1

    Open the PDF

Press Choose a PDF or drop the file on the box.

  2. 2

    Choose format and quality

JPG makes small files that open anywhere; PNG keeps text crisper. Standard (150 dpi) suits screens; Print (300 dpi) suits printing.

  3. 3

    Convert and download

Press Convert. Each page appears as a picture; download one, or all of them as a zip.

Why turn a PDF into pictures

Pictures go where PDFs can't: a WhatsApp status, an Instagram post, a slide, a website that only takes images, or a chat app that shows a preview of a photo but not of a document. A single page of a menu, a certificate or a floor plan is often easier to share as a JPG.

Choosing a quality

  • Screen, 96 dpi: an A4 page comes out about 800 by 1,100 pixels. Fine for messages and social posts
  • Standard, 150 dpi: about 1,240 by 1,750 pixels. Sharp on phones and laptops
  • Print, 300 dpi: about 2,480 by 3,500 pixels. For printing or zooming into detail
  • PNG is lossless and best for text and line drawings; JPG is smaller and best for photos

What you lose

A picture of a page is only a picture. The text can't be searched, copied or read aloud by a screen reader, and links stop working. Keep the PDF as the master copy and share pictures alongside it. Pictures of a signed document also carry none of the PDF's digital seal, so they are not proof of signing.

Questions people ask

Can I convert just one page?

Convert the PDF, then use the download link under the page you want. Or pull that page out first with Split PDF.

How many pages can it handle?

There is no fixed limit. Long documents at Print quality take more time and memory, so phones may be slower above a hundred pages.

Are the pictures watermarked?

No. You get plain pictures of your pages.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The pages are drawn by your browser on your device, and nothing is sent to us.

Need it signed? Send it for signature

Upload the PDF and we place every signature, initials and date box for each signer. They sign on their phone, and you get a sealed PDF with a certificate of completion. From $5 a month.
