How to add page numbers to a PDF

Pick top or bottom, left, centre or right, and a style: 1, Page 1, Page 1 of 12 or 1 / 12. The preview updates as you go.

Why number a PDF
Page numbers let people refer to a document precisely: the clause on page 7, the figure on page 12. For contracts they do more. Page 3 of 9 on every page shows at a glance that no page is missing and none has been slipped in, which is why lawyers number agreements before signing.
Numbers and initials on every page

Yes. Tick Leave the first page without a number. Numbering then starts on page two, from the number you choose.
Can I start numbering from a number other than 1?
Yes. Type any starting number, which is useful when the PDF is one part of a longer document.
Will numbers cover my content?
They sit in the margin, where most documents have space. Check the preview; if your pages run to the edge, try the other position.
Is my file uploaded?
