Why people switch to Sign PDF

  • Signature, initials and date boxes placed for you on every upload
  • Plain-English changes: "landlord signs first", "tenant initials every page"
  • Unlimited documents for $10 a month without paying a year up front
  • Upload Word, Pages, Excel or a photo of a printed page, not only PDF
  • A public verify page that checks a copy without the file leaving the computer

When SignWell is the better choice

  • You send 3 documents a month or fewer: SignWell's free plan covers that and we have no free plan.
  • You want to trigger signatures from your own software through an API.
  • You rely on Zapier or SignWell's native integrations.
  • Your work needs a HIPAA BAA, SOC 2 Type II report or 21 CFR Part 11 controls.
  • You need bulk send or signing links for many people at once.

How SignWell prices its plans

SignWell is one of the cheaper e-signature tools and says so plainly. Its pricing page lists a Free plan with 1 sender, 1 template and 3 documents a month. Light is $12 a month on monthly billing or $10 a month on annual billing, for unlimited documents, 1 sender and 5 templates. Business is $36 monthly or $30 a month annually, with 3 senders and unlimited templates.

There are no long-term contracts. You can pay monthly and cancel, and annual billing takes 20% off.

On price alone, our Full plan and SignWell Light are close: $10 against $12 a month when both are paid monthly. The difference is in what happens after you upload.

Placing fields: the real difference

SignWell's pricing page lists autofill fields, conditional field rules and data validation, which are useful once a template is built. It does not say that signature boxes are found and placed for you on a new upload.

Sign PDF does that on every document. Upload a lease and we put the Tenant's initials and signature where the Tenant's name sits, the Landlord's where the Landlord's does, and a date under each. If something is wrong, type "add a witness" or "date under each signature" and the fields change.

For someone sending a different contract each time, this is the part that saves the most minutes.

What SignWell has that we do not

SignWell includes an API on every plan, with 25 documents a month through the API free before per-document charges. It lists native integrations and more than 9,000 more through Zapier. Paid plans come with a SOC 2 Type II report and a HIPAA BAA, and the page lists 21 CFR Part 11 controls and bulk send.

We have no API, no integrations, no bulk send and no SOC 2 or HIPAA certification. If your process depends on any of those, SignWell is the more suitable tool.

Evidence on the finished document

Both products seal the completed PDF so later changes are detectable, and both keep an audit trail.

Ours adds a certificate of completion listing each signer's email, IP address, approximate location, device, and the UTC times they confirmed their email code, agreed to sign electronically, opened and signed. Each audit entry is chained by hash to the one before, the seal carries an independent DigiCert timestamp, and anyone can check a copy at signpdf.ai/verify without uploading it anywhere.

Questions people ask

Is SignWell really free?

Yes, for up to 3 documents a month with 1 sender and 1 template. SignWell's own page says you are not billed unless you upgrade. Beyond that, Light costs $12 a month or $10 on yearly billing.

Which is cheaper for unlimited documents?

Sign PDF Full is $10 a month, month to month. SignWell Light is $12 a month monthly or $10 a month if you pay for a year. Over a year, monthly payers save $24 with us.

Does SignWell place signature fields automatically?

Its pricing page does not say so. It lists autofill fields and conditional rules for templates. Sign PDF places and assigns signature, initials, date and name boxes on every new upload.

Does Sign PDF have an API like SignWell?

No. Sign PDF is used through the website only. If you need to send documents from your own app or CRM, SignWell's API is the better route.

Yes. Download your signed PDFs from SignWell and keep them; they stay valid. For new documents, upload the original Word or PDF file to us and the boxes are placed again.
